Purposeful Visits Ambassador

To provide support and assistance to UConn Health staff, patients, and families.

 

Flexible 7 days per week, no more than one volunteer per shift

Eucharistic Minister

Flexible 7 days per week

Procedure Center Ambassador

To assist family & visitors while their loved ones are preparing for or following a procedure.

 

Monday - Friday 10AM-2pm

Surgical Waiting Room Ambassador

To assist family & visitors while their loved ones are in surgery and during the immediate postoperative phase.  

 

Monday - Friday 1pm-6pm  

Spiritual Care Ambassador

Spiritual Care Volunteers provide additional and specific types of spiritual support to our patients in the hospital setting.  

 

Flexible 7 days per week  

Patient, Family, & Community Advisory Council (PFAC)

Provide feedback that fosters meaningful collaboration between patients, their networks and hospital staff with a focus on collaborating with the council in sharing diverse perspectives, promoting patient and family-centered care, and advancing initiatives that improve the overall experience, safety, and quality of care at UConn John Dempsey Hospital.  

 

Term: 3 Year Commitment
2-3 hours per month

Events & "At the Ready"

This opportunity is for anyone looking to volunteer at special events, or on project based volunteer assignments. Can't commit to a schedule? This is the opportunity for you!

 

We would require any volunteer applying for this role to volunteer at least once ever 6 months. An email would be sent with details of the opportunity, hours needed and special requirements. Sign up will be first come first serve.

Textile Crafting

Looking to volunteer from home? This opportunity is ideal for the sewer, crocheter or knitter who is interested in providing blankets, hats, mittens or other items to the patients of UConn Health.

Alcoholics Anonymous Meeting Facilitator

This opportunity is for individuals referred to UConn Health by AA local leadership.

 

Nayden Rehabilitation Clinic

Located at the Storrs campus, this opportunity allows students interested in physical therapy to assist in the therapy room. Volunteers are responsible for cleaning equipment, ensuring an organized space for the therapists and assisting with other administrative tasks as assigned.

 

One four hour shift per week

CCMC NICU Volunteer

UConn Health's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is managed by CT Children's Medical Center.

 

Anyone interested in volunteering with the NICU must complete an application through CT Children's Medical Center: volunteer.connecticutchildrens.org.
